I would like recorded music played in the intervals between the band sets. Is this possible? What format will you accept?

We can play recorded music through our PA equipment during any intervals. We have our own compilations (pop / rock / soul / dinner jazz) or you can provide your own music on an i-Pod, a laptop, CD's, or an mp3 player. We recommend you provide compilations of tracks rather than music by individual artists as they are more varied and so will suit more people's tastes.

Does Funkify perform at charity events? Can you offer a reduced fee? How do I go about booking the band for a charity event?

Yes, Funkify aims to do selected charity events each year and depending on the date of the event, We may be able to offer a reduced fee. If you would like to book the band for a charity event, just contact us by phone on 07956 385548 or by email at info@Funkify.co.uk.

Can I get a quote with a break down of costs and expenses?

Yes, Funkify can provide an itemised quote. If you require this, please let us know. Each quote includes all travel expenses, payments to musicians and sound engineer, hire and transport of equipment (including lights, PA equipment and sound desk) and any other expenses (subsistence, overnight accommodation if the venue is a long distance away, administration, overheads etc.)

I would like to see Funkify play before my event. Can I do this?

Yes, absolutely. We have our very own DVD which shows us playing live, and if you would also like to see us in person, we can arrange for you to be on the guest list for one of our upcoming performances.

I am having a summer wedding and would like the band to play outside. What are your requirements in this case?

We need to play in a covered area, even in the summer. We are often asked to play in a Marquee at summer weddings, in which case our only requirements are that there is enough space, that there is a flat flooring or,ideally, a stage area and that we have 2 separate power points available on a single phase 32amp supply.

We would really like Funkify to play our favourite song, but it is not on the current setlist. Can the band play requests?

Yes, we will be happy to play your request. Let us know a couple of months in advance of the event and we will aim to learn it for your function. We can play styles including soul / funk / pop / rock / jazz / reggae / blues.

Can we take photos of the band or video the band?

Yes, we are happy for you to do this. It is always nice to see the photos afterwards so we'd love it if you could email us some pics!

Can we use the band microphone for speeches at our event?

We are happy to provide a microphone for you or your guests to use, just let us know in advance.

Can you quote by email or phone and why don't you do this immediately?

We can certainly quote by email or on the phone, but we prefer to post you our DVD and publicity pack with the quote. This is all free of charge and there is no obligation to book us, we just want to give you the best possible introduction to the band.

We would like to hire a DJ for music after the band have finished, can you recommend anyone?

Funkify has a partnership with a professional DJ for music beforehand, during the breaks between sets and for dancing late into the evening after the band has finished playing. Just let us know if you would like to hear more about this option.

We would like to hire a jazz band for music during our pre-dinner drinks and meal. Can you recommend anyone?

Funkify can provide a solo jazz pianist or guitarist, or a jazz duo, trio or quartet for music during a drinks reception or a meal. Just let us know if you are interested in hearing more about this option.

The venue informed us that the band must have public liability insurance and that the band equipment must be PAT tested. Can you tell me whether this is the case?

Yes, we have up to date public liability insurance and our electrical equipment is PAT tested.

Do you require a deposit in advance?

Funkify requires a deposit of £100 to secure a booking. We will request this in a letter which we will send on confirmation of the booking, and which will include our booking contract. We ask that you return one signed copy of our booking contract to us, along with the deposit. The remainder of the fee is payable on or before the date of the performance.

Do you use recorded backing tracks?

No, we pride ourselves on being a completely live band which means our music and performance is spontaneous.

Does your quote include everything (travel expenses etc.)?

For convenience, we quote a total price which includes everything.

How experienced is the band?

The band is made up of experienced, professional musicians (see our biographies) and we have played together as a gigging band for 6 years. During that time we have played at hundreds of different events at venues ranging from hotels and private residences to music clubs and outdoor festivals.

How far do you travel?

We travel both nationally and internationally to play at events. Our quote will include all travel expenses.

How far in advance should I book the band?

Please book the band as soon as you can, as we are already booking up well into next year especially for Saturday nights. If you enquire about booking band for a certain date, provided we are free on that date, we will reserve the date for you until you have had a chance to look at our publicity material and see our DVD.

How long can you play for? How long are your intervals between sets?

We quote for the following playing times:

Two 45 minute sets.
Two 1 hour sets.
Three 45 minute sets.

If you require a different length set to those listed above, just let us know on enquiring about the booking. Intervals between sets are usually 30 minutes but we are happy to be flexible with this to suit the timings of your event.

How much power does band require, what are the minimum electrical requirements?

Funkify can be powered from two separate plug sockets on a single phase 32 amp supply. The total draw by the PA system is 1000 Watts (max) and the total draw by the lights is also 1000 Watts (max).

Our wedding venue is quite small. We are not sure whether there will be enough space for the band but we would like to book Funkify. How can we resolve this?

We have played at fairly small venues in the past, and because our front line uses radio mics and can come forward off the stage area, we can often fit in smaller spaces than you would think. We typically require an area about 6 metres wide by 3 metres deep. We will be happy to contact the venue and talk to the events manager to check that the stage area is suitable. In some circumstances where there is very little space available, we may be able to provide a smaller band (from 6 musicians) to suit the venue. We also have large and small sound systems to suit different venues.

How will you tailor Funkify’s performance to my requirements?

After we have received the signed contract, the date is reserved for you in the band diary. Following this, we will contact you to talk through the arrangements for your event, including where you want the band to play, timings, announcements, individual requirements, any song requests and the setlist for the evening. We will also liaise with the events manager at the venue to check that they are also happy with the arrangements. We will also contact any other relevant parties (such as the DJ or marquee suppliers). This personal approach differentiates Funkify from bands who just turn up and play.

I have received your quote and publicity material and I would like to book the band. What is the next step?

Please telephone Amy on 07956 385548 or by email at info@Funkify.co.uk to confirm the booking. We will then send you two copies of our booking contract. Please sign both copies, return one copy to us in the stamped addressed envelope provided, and keep one copy for your records. This contract confirms the date and venue for the booking, and the price between the client and the band.

Is your publicity pack, quote and DVD free?

The publicity pack, quote and DVD we send by post to clients thinking of booking Funkify is all free of charge.

The events manager at the venue informed us that there is a limit on the volume the venue can allow. Can the band meet this requirement?

Yes, we can adjust volume levels to suit both the client and the venue. It is best to let us know in advance if the venue has a very strict requirement on volume and we will either tailor our line-up and performance accordingly, or if the venue is for acoustic (unplugged) music only, recommend an alternative band.

What differentiates Funkify from other soul bands I could hire for my event?

Some other bands hire in dep musicians who come along for one night and reel off a standard set of covers. That might "do the job," but if you hire Funkify you get a band that puts on a superb unique performance of the type that can only be accomplished by musicians that have played together for years. We don't just reel off covers, we make them our own and put on a real performance - one of the band's USPs is that our fabulous lead singers (Simone and Paul), along with the band's horn section, are equipped with radio microphones -  this enables them to join the party out on the dance floor! There may even be some voluntary audience participation...! If you are in doubt, just watch our DVD to see what we can do!

Funkify offers a professional and personalised service from your initial enquiry to the big day itself. We aim to answer enquiries and send out marketing material promptly and efficiently. We will discuss all the arrangements and any special requirements with you in advance. We talk to the events manager at the venue so you can be confident everything will go smoothly on your big day. We can even learn your favourite song given a few month's notice. It goes without saying that we set up in a timely and professional manner and that the appearance of the band will compliment your event. We have a dedicated sound engineer who will tailor the sound and levels to your requirements, play recorded music in the intervals, and can also help you with any microphones needed for speeches.

What do you wear on stage? Can you fit the theme of our event?

We always dress smartly and the usual dress code is smart black clothes for everyone except our lead singer who will wear a stunning evening dress for the occasion. Please let us know if you are holding a themed event as we will dress to suit the occasion.

What happens if I need to cancel my booking?

Our booking contract outlines the conditions for cancellation, but you can cancel without charge until a month before the event. We are aware that not everything in life runs perfectly and in the event of a genuine and unavoidable reason for late cancellation, we will make every attempt to play for you on an alternative date or, in certain circumstances, waive our cancellation charges.

What happens if one of the band members cannot play due to illness or for other reasons?

Funkify is in contact with a number of professional musicians who have played with us at events in the past. In the unlikely event that one member of the band cannot play on the evening, we will be able to arrange a replacement and this will not affect the quality of our performance.

What happens if you are already booked on the date I wanted you to play?

Funkify works in partnership with another fantastic band that plays a similar style of music and we can put you in touch with them if Funkify is unavailable.

What information do you need from me in order to give me a quote for my event?

Please could you send:
* your name and postal address
* the date of the event (including the year)
* the type of event
* the name and address of the venue (if known, or else the location or city)
* any extra requirements (for example, if you require a jazz group to play during the start of the event)

What is the instrumentation in the band?

Our line-up includes male and female lead singers, trumpet, alto sax, tenor sax, keyboard, guitar, bass guitar and drums. We also have a dedicated sound engineer.

What types of events can you play for?

Anything really... In the past we have played at weddings, birthday parties from 18ths to 70ths, bar mitzvahs, corporate events, Christmas parties, festivals, summer parties, charity events... just give us a call!

Will I need to provide any equipment for the band?

No, the band is fully self-contained with PA system, sound desk and stage lighting. All we require is that the venue has two standard power points available near to the stage area.

I would like to book Funkify for an event where lots of different age groups will be present (from young children to elderly relatives). Will the music suit everyone?

Funkify plays party classics which appeal to all age groups. Quite often young children, adults and elderly people are all up dancing and enjoying our music!

Will you use my contact details for any other purposes?

We will not use your postal address or email for any other purposes except to send our publicity pack and contact you about the booking. If you would also like us to put you on the band mailing list to update you about our coming events, just use our mailing list form.
